Our Story
Bardiya Nature Lodge (BNL) is a small, family-owned retreat located along the Khata migration corridor in Bardiya, Nepal. Nestled on the edge of the Tharu village of Khairini and bordered by the Aurahi River, BNL is one of the first eco-lodges to be established in this lesser-explored region.
BNL is more than just a place to stay; it is a commitment to sustainability, cultural respect, and experiences that draw people closer to the land.
Every element of the lodge, from design to daily operations, reflects a deep connection to the indigenous Tharu community and the surrounding ecosystem. The architecture draws inspiration from traditional Tharu homes, using locally sourced, repurposed materials, many of which are salvaged from old village houses. They are built entirely with local labor and craftsmanship.
BNL offers a unique blend of comfort and authenticity, where luxury means experiencing raw, untouched nature, engaging with the local culture, and supporting a tourism model that gives back.
It is a space for like-minded travellers seeking mindful exploration, meaningful connections, and a deeper appreciation of Nepal’s richest wildlife region. With this in mind, we want our guests to understand that at BNL, Nature Is The New Luxury.
